01The story

How we started in Kyiv

PKSTUDIO began in Kyiv in 2017 with two people in a rented room. Pavlo had spent five years at agencies where senior specialists presented the work, then handed it to a changing team of juniors. He wanted the people who proposed a project to carry it out, with revenue as the main figure in the monthly report.

We have been based in Kyiv ever since. Over nine years, we have completed 350 projects, and 92% of clients have stayed beyond their first year. Experienced specialists still do the work. We turn down roughly a third of enquiries when we cannot agree a result to be accountable for. Every case study includes what did not work and what we learned from it.

PK stands for Pavlo Kabanets. We chose "studio" because we work closely on each project, as a small workshop would.

Our work since 2017

How our services and working practices developed over nine years in Kyiv.

    We start in Kyiv

    Two people begin ongoing search engine optimisation (SEO) for a local furniture maker. That first client still works with us.

    We add paid advertising

    Maksym joins from an in-house marketing team and builds our advertising service. In December, we complete our 100th project.

    Remote working becomes routine

    During lockdown, we start working remotely. What begins as a temporary arrangement becomes our usual way of working.

    We keep client work running

    We continue managing every client account and run campaigns for six Ukrainian non-profit organisations free of charge.

    We expand into website development

    Oksana builds our website development and conversion optimisation service, which focuses on turning more visitors into customers. Every case study now includes a section on what did not work. We complete our 300th project.

How we work with clients

These five rules guide which projects we take on. Each has led us to turn down a contract at least once.

Questions about our services

  1. Agree the main measure of success

    Before signing a contract, we agree one business metric for which we will be accountable. We take on the project only when that goal is clear.

  2. Keep experienced specialists involved

    The specialists who discuss the proposal with you also carry out the work. We do not pass the project to juniors or undisclosed subcontractors.

  3. Be clear about whether we can help

    We turn down roughly a third of enquiries. If our experience does not suit your task, we say so before you spend time and money on the project.

    Our case studies cover unsuccessful decisions as well as results. They help you understand what happened during a project.

  5. Keep ownership with the client

    Advertising accounts, analytics, domains and creative files remain in your name. Ending the collaboration should take half a day and should not require a lawyer.

Our office is at Coworking 3.14 in Kyiv. We keep in touch through Slack, and you can join any meeting online.
